FAQ'S ABOUT SEA GLASS JEWELRY BY DANIELLE RENEE'
Frequently Asked Questions
Authentic Sea glass is discarded glass that has been tumbled naturally in the ocean and found on the shore.  As a member of the North American Sea Glass Association, I have the privilege of  posting NASGA's definition of Genuine sea glass vs. Artificial on my web site.  To learn more about sea glass please see http://www.jewelrybydaniellerenee.com/page/about .
Yes, sea glass is becoming more and more difficult to find due to the changes in society.  We no longer use glass containers in abundance and we no longer litter.
Much of my sea glass was hand picked by my grandmother, friends, family members and myself on the coast of New England.  The rest has been purchased from professional sea glass collectors.
The common colors of sea glass are white, green and brown.  Even the common colors may be uncommon pieces of sea glass if they are perfectly frosted with no chips and are shaped nicely.
Red, orange, black, yellow, cobalt, jadeite and milk glass are among some of the rarest colors.
No.  My sea glass jewelry is made with unaltered sea glass.  Many people add oil their sea glass in order to make the colors stand out.  But I prefer the natural look.  I have found by wearing sea glass jewelry the natural oils from your skin will bring out the color.
I use Argentium sterling silver.  It is a little more expensive than sterling silver, but I think it is a better product  because it is tarnish resistant.  I also use 12k GF wire also know as rolled gold.
The chains  and findings are all sterling silver and 14k GF unless noted in the description of the item.
The best way and easiest way to keep all sterling silver jewelry clean is to keep it in an air tight container when not in use.  Air is an oxident.  I keep my jewelry in zip lock baggies and then in a tuper ware container.  It will stay new for a very long time with out cleaning.  I recommend if you like your silver to remain bright do not wear it swimming, in the shower or hot tub.  For more cleaning and care please visit http://www.jewelrybydaniellerenee.com/page/cleaning.
