My Grandmother "Mimi" & I spent many wonderful summer months at her beach cottage along the New England shore. We both loved everything the seacoast had to offer with it's sights & smells and it's tranquility. We especially enjoyed finding our precious sea glass gems along the shore and kept them in a container at the Beach house.
Many hours were spent with family and friends at Mimi's beach cottage. It was a season to be light hearted but also a season to reflect. This place in time was very special to me. It was a place where I met my husband and partner for life and time shared with friends who will stay in my heart forever.
Mimi & I shared this passion of collecting Sea Glass. We both saw each piece as jewels from the ocean. Before Mimi passed she handed me our sea glass collection and said she knew I would appreciate it. Mimi has been gone for many years now and I am making jewelry with these beauties tossed up by the sea. Each piece is unique and handmade with genuine, unaltered sea glass. To my amazement it quickly has become the fashion in my native New England.
My collection has expanded to include top quality natural sea glass collected not only from New England but also from Hawaii, California, Washington State, The Great Lakes, Canada, Puerto Rico, Bermuda and my favorite of all Nova Scotia sea glass which has it's own title within My Mimi Collection called the "G" Series. It has been very exciting for me to network with other collectors who share the same passion as myself for collecting sea glass and affords me the inspiration in many of my pieces.
This collection of sea glass jewelry by Danielle is for the "Beach Lover" as I am. I hope you enjoy browsing through my Gallery affectionately named the "MIMI COLLECTION".
On a more personal note...I have been married more than half my life and we have a beautiful 29 year old daughter, who has become my biggest supporter and best friend. I come from an old fashioned American family and I am number two of ten children. I consider myself extremely blessed for this reason. Art and music as well as sports has been a big part of my life because of my family. We were all encouraged to express ourselves freely through our art, music and sports. We always had enough people to create a team for any sport between the family and neighborhood friends. All ten of us were encouraged to play a muscial instrument, sing as loudly as we wanted and express ourselves freely with arts and crafts. As you can imagine we had and continue to have some wonderful family gatherings. My mom was a natural who could play anything on the piano and painted well enough to display her artwork in the local banks. My brother EJ Ouellette is an extremely talented musician who has a large following from the New England Coastal and Boston area. Yet the talent doesn't end there. Justin Ouellette (brother), residing in Atlanta, GA, is the writer, producer and director of "Frankie and Gina's Comedy Show". Now playing at Anthony's Fine Dining in Atlanta, Ga. Other works noted for is "The Godfather's 50th Wedding Anniversary". The love of arts and music have continued to the next generation. I have nieces and nephews who excel in acting, music and art. Andre Ouellette in particular who has become the budding actor of the family who continues to land lead parts in High School and local plays and Lily Keohane who at age 9 is commanding audiences with her singing and stage prescence. We truly are blessed.
